Back In 1940 Nigerians lived in mud houses with thatched roof especially those from the north and the south central.

 

 

Today there are many types of houses in Nigeria, the brick houses have taken the center stage as the mud and thatched houses are referred to as ancient or primitive houses.
People are raising up lucrative, eye-popping mansions, the roads and trails are also attaining international standards.

A Detached House

A single-family detached home, also called a single-detached dwelling or separate house is a free-standing residential building. It is defined in opposition to a multi-family dwelling.

A Semi Detached House

Semi-detached housing consists of pairs of houses built side-by-side or (less commonly) back-to-back, sharing a party wall and usually in such a way that each house’s layout is a mirror image of its twin.

Terraced Houses

A terraced or terrace house (UK) or townhouse (US) is a term in architecture and city planning referring to a style of medium-density housing that originated in Europe in the 16th century, where a row of identical or mirror-image houses share side walls.

A Bungalow

A bungalow is a type of building. Across the world, the meaning of the word bungalow varies. Common features of many bungalows include verandas and being low-rise.

Cottages

 

A cottage is, typically, a small house. The word comes from England where it originally was a house that has a ground floor, with a first, lower storey of bedrooms which fit within the roof space. In many places the word cottage is used to mean a small old-fashioned house.

A Villa

A villa was originally an ancient Roman upper-class country house. Since its origins in the Roman villa, the idea and function of a villa have evolved considerably.

A Penthouse

A penthouse apartment or a penthouse is an apartment on the highest floor of an apartment building. Penthouses are typically differentiated from other apartments by luxury features.

A mansion is a large dwelling house.

An igloo known as snow house or snow hut is a type of shelter built of snow.
